Haringey Council's Investment Fund
LBH's Investment Fund for Voluntary and Community Organisations closed on Tuesday 10th April.
HAVCO wrote to Cllr Dilek Dogus, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Services, outlining concerns raised by VCOs in relation to the fund (read the letter here). Cllr Dogus sent a response to this letter (which you can read here). HAVCO then wrote a second letter in reply to Cllr Dogus's response, which you can read here.

Spending Cuts in Haringey
Haringey Council will have to cut £85 million from its budget over the next three years. In 2011/12 they cut their budget by 13% (£46m). You can find full details of the budget here. This has had an impact upon many frontline services such as youth centres, drop-ins and luncheon clubs and older people. Voluntary and community organisations in receipt of core funding will lose their grants in June 2012. The Council have published a Funding and Commissioning Framework for the Voluntary Sector.
The big news for charities following central government's 2012 budget is the Chancellor's £50,000 cap on personal tax relief. Charities warn this will strongly deter millionaires from giving generously. The Guardian go into a little more detail on this, and the NVCO and others have written an open letter to the Chancellor about the matter.
